Queensland, Australia and a little bit of Adelaide
Christmas without family gets a little lonely but since we were joined by our son David this year we traveled to the Adelaide area and the Barossa Valley for some wine tasting, the famous Australian Shiraz, Cabernet, and Reislings. In a small village called Angaston we rented a charming historical cottage and visited wineries for several days in a fashion that is no longer possible in the Napa Valley of Calif. It's still possible to sit and taste with the winemaker here, sampling wines that are rarely available in the States and with no charge. Emu sightings as well as lots of kangaroos reminded Dave that he was in Australia and the delicious Flat White coffees in the outdoor cafes made it possible to keep driving between tastings.
